Nhojj Live at Brooklyn Museum

The Brooklyn Museum is having a special “Out & Proud” First Saturday on January 7 to celebrate the HIDE/SEEK exhibit. Its the first major museum exhibit of its kind to focus on gender and sexuality.

I’m excited about kicking off the evening with a 50 minute set of your favorites and some surprises. So if you are in NYC, come on over and enjoy some live music. I go on at 5 pm – seating is limited, so get there early. I’ve rounded up a super band:

With this song I offer thanks to the fathers… friends… brothers… lovers… sons who helped me be the man I am today.

As the sounds surround you… I invite you to open the door of gratitude and find the men in your life who have gifted goodness to you. Remember to dance… Remember to give thanks…

It was good to return to the Five Spot in Brooklyn, we had done the “Underground to Peace + Unity” there in 2003 and over the years I’ve performed there many times. The Five Spot is a kewl spot, if you ever get a chance visit it and enjoy the soul food (I love soul food:)

I love performing this song “The Beggar’s Cup” – its my reggae song and growing up in the Caribbean, we all love reggae. Its one of those songs that wrote itself. I sat on the bathroom floor in my apartment in Staten Island and this song just flowed. In about 15 minutes it was done. Enjoy:)

This was my first gig with my band. We performed two sets at Tillies Cafe in Brooklyn, New York. It was a lot of fun and also a lot of work… lol but I think everyone was happy at the end.
