As America celebrates her Independence with fireworks and food, I celebrate my Independence with laughter and light heart. We both won battles to arrive at this moment, mine not as bloody and public as America’s, but just as difficult and vital.

The history books tell us how America fought with bullets and cannonballs – I fought with words and ideas… affirmations and mantras… knowledge and Love of Self. My victories are peace of mind and joy.

Celebrate your own personal Independence…

Today as we celebrate America’s Independence, remember to celebrate your own personal Independence from things seen and unseen that challenged your freedom, celebrate the advances you made regardless how small and insignificant. Celebrate my friend… Celebrate!

I’m sitting in bed in the very chic Aloft Houston and I feel happiness. The happiness isn’t a result of staying in this swanky hotel… it isn’t because I create music for a living… it isn’t even because I have the love of my family, friends, and fans. All these things could disappear in the blink of an eye.

Happiness is a daily practice…

I believe happiness is a daily practice we get better at each day. It’s like learning to ride a bicycle – you get on… fall off… sometimes you hurt yourself… but you keep getting back on until one day you riding with the wind – and this is best birthday gift anyone could receive – I hope you have many happy days:)
