In tribal societies, warriors often formed a caste or class of their own. In societies where warfare is prevalent, the entire people may be considered warriors. In these societies, war is usually related to physical territory.

However the gay warrior is not fighting for physical territory, the gay warrior is fighting for mental, emotional, and spiritual territory. The gay warrior is fighting for acceptance… for inclusion… for equality… and ultimately for the well being that winning this war brings.

Late last year, a good friend lent this to me and it was so kind and thought-provoking, that I got a copy for my parents.  It allowed us to talk more openly about homosexuality and the Bible and Christianity.    Its a documentary that focuses on 5 different families that have homosexual children and the different ways the parents are dealing with their children.  It has has a lot to say about what the Bible really says about homosexuality.    I encourage everyone from a Christian background to get this DVD:)

So my recent manta has been “just start.”   Sometimes I look at all the tasks and goals I want to complete and that feeling starts to descend – the feeling of being overwhelmed.   And then I start to do the “p” word – procrastinate… Yikes!!!  But I just learnt a little secret, actually I kind of knew it all along – now I’m being reminded of it… just start… start at the beginning… start with the easiest task… start in the middle… listen to music and start… whatever just start – and get the ball rolling.

Michael Jackson was such an incredible artist, I just had to pay tribute to his phenomenal talent and gift. I complied some of my favorite Michael Jackson photographs and placed them to the song I believe best fits what MJJ’s life stood for.

As soon as I read this, I just knew I had to share it.  What a beautiful message to remember on the day that I was born.  It is by no means an easy task, but I believe it is a worthwhile task – thank you for sharing this day with me and continued blessings…

“It’s about mustering the courage to care and love, and be empathetic and compassionate” – Cornel West.  I’m learning more each day how much courage it really does take to care and to love unconditionally.  It is easy to do the opposite, unfortunately, we all have experienced  just how easy the opposite of love is.
