Brooklyn Museum Concert Highlights

Brooklyn Museum was perfect
The band was amazing…
The audience was lively…
The applause was loud…
The standing ovation was exciting.

Amazing…

But I must admit one of the most amazing moments happened off stage after the show. I was standing in the aisle greeting friends and well wishers and generally floating on a wonderful after-show high. In the midst of all the commotion, I happened to look down and saw the cutest child smiling up at me. She couldn’t have been more than 5, African decent, and was holding a child’s camera in her hands. As I glanced down smiling from something someone said, our eyes met and she gave me the most adorable giggle, snapped my picture, and before I could bend down and talk with her, disappeared into the crowd.

And a child will lead them…

One of the most prominent museums in New York city had created a safe space to celebrate and honor the wide spectrum that is our human sexuality, my band and I had blessed the stage with our individual and collective Truth, and someone had brought this little child whose Soul had opened to receive the music in the Spirit of Love that it had been created.

So sweet and pure…

I will always remember that moment… and I am speechless when I think that by living openly and honestly, I was able to bring this innocent child joy and help weave an experience of equality and respect into the fabric of her life. I hope her life is full of smiles as magical as the one she shared with me.

A big thank you to the Brooklyn Museum for producing an event where regardless of gender, sexuality, age, nationality, race, or religion, we could all come together and celebrate our uniqueness and our sameness. Watch some of the on stage highlights:)
