Just Starting…

Nhojj | November 17th, 2009 - 11:52 pm

So my recent manta has been “just start.”   Sometimes I look at all the tasks and goals I want to complete and that feeling starts to descend – the feeling of being overwhelmed.   And then I start to do the “p” word – procrastinate… Yikes!!!  But I just learnt a little secret, actually I kind of knew it all along – now I’m being reminded of it… just start… start at the beginning… start with the easiest task… start in the middle… listen to music and start… whatever just start – and get the ball rolling.

Nhojj | April 17th, 2009 - 12:26 pm

Mike Ibrahim wrote “Spring Rain” which is featured in the film “Finding Me”. This picture was taken last summer in the east village, when Mike & I met for the first time.  He’s now signed with Polydor/Universal France, so look out for him in the record stores soon:)

Maxwell

Nhojj | April 9th, 2009 - 11:14 pm

Here’s another hero of mine. When Maxwell came out in the 90′s, it really gave me inspiration to do music as I felt it and heard it in my heart.  To me he exemplifies a true artist.  I wish him continued success and much happiness:)

I’ve always been a big fan of Janet Jackson, and one of the things that always strikes me about her is her beautiful smile.  So I complied some of my favorite pictures of Janet’s smile and used my song “I like that…” Enjoy:)

Congratulations Obama!

Nhojj | November 6th, 2008 - 12:53 am

My prayers and thoughts turn towards the president elect and the great job we all have ahead.  President Barack Obama really captured my attention and fascination.   I feel proud to call myself an American and I believe he has what it takes to turn this country around.

Guyana Fashion Weekend 08

Nhojj | October 31st, 2008 - 2:03 am

Guyana Fashion Weekend 2008 was pretty amazing.   The designs were innovative and reflected the rich culture and heritage, and it felt really good to be back home - enjoying good food, weather, family and friends.    A big thank you for Walter Greene and Sonia Noel.

Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis

Marilyn McCoo, Robert Allan Arno, Billy Davis Jr, and Nhojj

On May 20, I had the honor of meeting Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis after their show at the Cafe Carlyle.  My friend Robert Allan Arno (who has written many of their liner notes) made it possible.  The show was amazing, I am still singing “Let the Sun shine” - and meeting them was a dream come true.  Thank you Robert:)
