I had a great time talking with Cassandra on Good Morning Barbados TV, I didn’t enjoy getting up at 4:30 AM to videotape the show… lol, but the experience was truly amazing. A big thank you to Ingrid:)

India.Arie is one of my favorite artists and “Brown Skin” is one of my favorite songs to perform.   The crowd here in Atlanta were amazing – they were right there with me every step of the way… Every Body Beautiful hosted by Tim’m West.

The performance was so much fun – Atlanta is the place to perform, the audience gave nothing but love to me and my acoustic soul. I did a cover of India.Aries “Brown Skin” – such a great song (I wish I wrote it:)

This song is dark and sad just like the name suggests.  I don’t perform it much anymore because I’m in a different place, but at the time this song was so therapeutic for me.  I recorded two versions of this song and this one felt like it was the one…

I would walk the long way home from school in Guyana so I could pass by the ocean.  I’ve always found the water beautiful and inspiring.  “Wade in the Water” is about that experience growing up.   The ocean with all its beauty is also a dangerous place – I believe in this world beauty and danger go hand in hand – what do you think?
