I was once asked what this song meant and I hesitated to answer at the time.  But this is a new year – this song is about possession, about soaring beyond this material world into the indescribable realm, about communicating with beings as old as time.

Sometimes people come into our lives and make a huge impact… really teach us something important about life.   I wrote “Peace & Blessings” for such a friend.  We were in each others lives for short period of time, but that time meant a great deal to me and inspired this song.

Let the sun shine in… I remember I was in DC with some friends at a club and Nina Simone’s “Here Comes the Sun” came on.  I’d never heard the song before, but I loved the message – it inspired me so much I started writing right there in the club… lol

I wrote this song “My Brother” for all the brothers, especially my biological brother, who inspired me and helped me be the human being I am now. Its interesting, when we were younger, my brother and I fought constantly… lol now we are the best of friends.   Thank you my brother…

“Spring Rain” is a result of an internet collaboration.  I met Mike Ibrahim on myspace and instantly loved his music.  It was a pleasant surprise that he liked mine as well, so we decided to work together… but Mike lives in Paris and I live in NYC – so we emailed music files back and forth.  Mike wrote this beautiful song.

The success of  “Love” was a big surprise for me, people really connect with this song. I love recording and arranging background vocals, and with this song, I was able to record lots and lots of background vocals.

I heard this track and fell in love with it.  It felt a lot like Jill Scott and I love her work.  Jon Evans, my producer played a big role in making this song what it is.   I like to write my lyrics, because I want the songs to truly be reflect who I am and what I’m reaching for.

Music is my life and I wanted to write a song that really spoke to this truth.  I always perform this song in my shows because I believe music lives in all of us.  I like to invite the audience to sing along – I love seeing all those happy people singing  – that’s why I do music:)
